Aseel is just 6year old boy who is bright and energetic. He loves playing with his elder brother and making everyone around him smile. Two years back he was diagnosed with B- ALL. His parents did everything they could. They used up every rupee of their savings on the first line treatment, hoping it would be enough. They thought the worst was behind them. Then the relapse came.
Hearing those words again felt like the ground disappearing under their feet. The doctor explained that Aseel needed a bone marrow transplant, the only real chance to beat this. But the cost was way beyond anything they could manage. They had nothing left. They were completely stuck to start chemotherapy. That when they reached out to social worker and opened up their mind. Social worker
analysed their situation and case study. Social worker realised it would be better to start treatment as soon as possible and explained about financial aids he could facilitate.
Social worker primarily provided details of Leukaemia Crusaders (Bansividya Memorial Trust) and necessary documents to avail their financial support. We were able to step in quickly with financial help covering a big part of his initial treatment. Because of the support the treatment didn’t get delayed. Aseel went through the transplant and today he he’s in the post BMT phase, slowly getting
stronger every day. His parents still talk about the how hopeless they felt the day before approval of aid.
Aseel is still fighting and recovery after transplant takes time and courage, but he’s here smiling. He has got a chance and that chance exist only because kind people decided to help. This is why Leukaemia Crusaders exist.. So no child like Aseel has to give up treatment just because the money ran out.
